Assessing Risks:
Student may not follow social distancing practices, even with verbal/visual reminders.
Teaching certain skills may require close proximity to be effective, therefore making social distancing difficult.
Staff share tools including the data binder, writing instruments, timers, flashcards, worksheets, and toys.
High touch surfaces including the doorbell, doorknobs, light switches, child safety gate/locks, and table and chairs in the teaching area(s).
Food/drinks may be used during sessions to motivate the child and potentially spread germs.
WorkSafeBC In-Person Counselling Protocols
COVID-19 Safety Plan:
Elimination: Limiting the number of individuals at the workplace at one time. Overlap sessions will include a maximum of ONE Behaviour Interventionists per session.
Engineering Controls: As sessions take place in your home, it is not feasible, nor appropriate to install barriers such as plexiglass.
Administrative Controls:
We will arrange the therapy room and teaching areas for appropriate physical distancing.
Everyone will maintain safe distancing at all times. Verbal and visual reminders for the student as appropriate.
Families are responsible for supplying liquid soap and clean hand towels/paper towel rolls. We will wash our hands or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers immediately at the start of the session, before and after breaks, and at the end of the session.
Commonly touched areas such as the teaching table and chairs are thoroughly sanitized before and at the end of each session.
Physical contact is not permitted.
Tissues and trash bins are easily accessed. Trash is disposed of on a frequent basis.
Remove any unnecessary food/drinks during session time.
Personal Protective Equipment: During sessions, all adults will wear masks.
Your feedback is important. Please feel free to voice any questions and/or concerns regarding our COVID-19 plan. This plan will be monitored and revised as necessary.
